Ara Thorose is an Armenian-American artist from Los Angeles, currently based in NY. He holds an MFA in 3D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art. As an undergraduate at University of California Irvine, he studied Sociology with a focus on gender and sexuality.

My work is an investigation of form, with a minimal approach to material and geometry. I create design objects that can be engaged with as furniture, sculpture or both in a personal and emotional way. Working under the constraints of design, I explore and discover ideal form uncompromised by the practicality of function.

I hand-make the objects using a variety of materials, from knitted fabrics to repurposed and salvaged industrial tubing.
